Welcome to Our World

This invention relates to electrical safety devices and, more particularly, to a portable mechanical device that assists in removing a standard three-prong electrical plug from a wall outlet without applying force to the electrical cord.

Conventional electrical plugs, such as the NEMA 5-15 plug, are commonly removed from wall outlets by pulling on the attached flexible cord. This practice:

  • Causes internal conductor fatigue
  • Leads to fraying at the plug.
  • Creates potential shock hazards
  • Shortens appliance lifespan
  • May loosen wall outlet receptacles

Existing solutions either:

  • Require gripping the plug body (often difficult in tight spaces),
  • Permanently attach to the plug,
  • Replace the outlet,
  • Or involve powered eject mechanisms.
  • Require gripping the plug body (often difficult in tight spaces),
  • Permanently attach to the plug,
  • OR Replace the outlet.

There remains a need for a simple, passive, portable device that allows safe removal of a plug without cord stress and without modifying the outlet or plug.

The present invention provides a portable plug-removal assist device that:

  • Passes over the prong end of a standard three-prong electrical plug
  • Allows the plug to be inserted normally into a wall outlet
  • Includes an integrated handle structure
  • Provides mechanical leverage to withdraw the plug directly from the outlet
  • Prevents tension being applied to the electrical cord

The device is not permanently attached and does not alter the plug or receptacle.
